Privacy Policy
Textbook+ is a free, non-commercial study companion for NCERT textbooks. This page explains what data the app handles, what it never keeps, and how third-party content such as YouTube videos is used. The short version: we store the minimum needed to make your study materials work, we don't run ads or third-party analytics, and we never sell data.
Your account
You sign in with your Google account (Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication). We receive your name, email address, and profile photo, and use them only to identify your account inside the app. You can revoke Textbook+'s access to your Google account at any time from your Google security settings.
What we store
- Your annotations — highlights and notes you create, linked to your account and readable only by you.
- Study activity — when you play an explainer video, we record how much of it you watched, under your own account, to improve the learning materials.
- Generated study aids — AI-generated explanations, quizzes, and walkthroughs are tied to textbook chapters, not to you.
What we never store
- Chat conversations with the AI tutor live only in your current session and are not saved on our servers.
- Photos of questions you upload in chat are processed in memory to generate the answer and are never stored.
How your data is processed
Textbook+ runs entirely on Google Cloud (Firebase and Vertex AI). Text you select and photos you submit are processed by Google's AI models to generate study help; no data is sent to any non-Google third party. We show no advertising and use no third-party analytics.
YouTube content
Textbook+ uses YouTube API Services to recommend educational videos for textbook sections. By using the video features you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data in connection with YouTube is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- We never access your YouTube account or any of your YouTube data — video searches are performed server-side against public content only.
- We store only the selected video's ID, title, and channel name, attached to the textbook section (not to you).
- Videos play through the official embedded YouTube player, which may collect data as described in Google's own policies.
Deleting your data
The in-app Reset action permanently deletes your highlights and notes for a book. To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@aryabeta.com and we will remove it within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
